Illinois Food.

September 23, 2009

I recently made a trip to the suburbs of Chicago and quickly realized how much I really don’t like Athens. I love going out to restaurants more than possibly anything.  Seriously.  Here are 4 places that I really enjoyed that you can’t get in Atlanta.

1. Eggsperience Pancakes & Cafe

Eggsperience

Think of this place as a much nicer and way more delicious IHOP. The prices are higher, but you get more food and it’s just incredible.

2. Portillo’s Hot Dogs

Portillo's Inside

This place serves both hot dogs and burgers and other food similar.  It’s really cool because you split into 2 lines depending on what you want to eat and they are impossibly fast. Your food is ready before you walk to the end of the counter. Oh, and they have a famous chocolate cake. Rich chocolate usually makes me feel bad, but I ate the entire slice  and I would have eaten my friend’s slice if she hadn’t already devoured it.

3. Biaggi’s

Biaggi's

This is an Italian place not too far off from Olive Garden, except a little more upscale and 20x as good.  I had the fried ravioli and chicken parmesan if I remember correctly and it was amazing.  I also had a slice of the New York style cheesecake and it was also amazing. I just went to Olive Garden a few weeks ago and ordered the chicken parmesan and it was definitely not up to par with this place.

4. Rainforest Cafe

Rainforest Cafe

Rainforest has everything. It’s not that their food is the best, but the restaurant is just awesome. If you are only going to go to one, I recommend the giant Rainforest Cafe right outside Animal Kingdom in Orlando. It is so awesome.

Can you tell I can’t write restaurant reviews because I’d just use words like awesome and amazing? I really need to move to Illinois.

Cobra Steering Issue.

September 22, 2009

I noticed just recently that my front suspension makes a squeaking/creaking noise when I turn the wheel to the left either at a stop or while driving slow. It turns out the fix is hopefully cheaper than I originally thought. Ford has a TSB that lists the exact problem with the apparent cause being bad steering gear tube brackets. It’s about $8 to get the part and shouldn’t take more than an hour or so to swap out. We’ll see if that fixes the problem because it drives me insane.

Tarja Turunen ‘Minor Heaven’

The more I listen to this song by Tarja, the more I like it. No real music video, but this contains a slide show and I’m not arguing with that.

Men’s Warehouse Suit Drive.

September 2, 2009

Suit

Men’s Warehouse is currently taking part in a national suit drive where you can donate your old suits and they’ll in turn give them to non-profit organizations that will provide them to men who otherwise wouldn’t be able to afford one.  It’s a great cause to help someone out and what else will you do with all that stuff you don’t or can’t wear anymore? I know I have a few larger jackets and pants that I’ll drop off once I get back into town.

Off To Chicago…

September 2, 2009

I’ll be away for the rest of the week, but here are some great Nightwish performances as well as some less well-known Tarja Turunen songs!  The first Nightwish song I’ll post is called Ghost Love Score and it’s absolutely epic.  It’s easily one of my favorites not only by Nightwish, but personally among all my music as well.
